What The Heck Is This?

Smack in the middle of the Arizona desert is a weird hole that can be seen from space. Michael, Nikolas and I speculated for some time on what it could be until we finally decided to drive out there and check it out. Alas, it turned out NOT to be a a stargate, a wormhole or an alien artifact, but just a humble watering hole. I guess the ring of trees should have given it away right off the bat.

In our defence though it is actually not that obvious from the Google Earth images, particularly since no water or livestock are in the area. The colour of the water gives the illusion of depth, making it look like a real hole. You can check out the Google Earth images yourself.

It turns out that the hole itself is surprisingly large - took us about 10 minutes to walk all the way around it (and finding a gazillion spent shotgun cartridges along the way-hmmmmm).

Next time I think will just stick to my stargate theory and stay at home...
